Biochar needs to be charged before applying.
Follow these three simple steps.
Mix Biochar with Compost or Manure in a ratio 1:9 (one part Biochar to nine parts Compost/Manure). Keep the pile moist.
Liquid fertilizer option: Mix Biochar with liquid fertilizer/compost tea in a 1:1 ratio.
Let the mix rest, keeping it moist, so Biochar can soak up nutrients and water, developing good Microbes.
Compost/Manure Mix: let it rest for a minimum of two weeks. The longer it sits, the better. If it sits through fall and winter, even better.
Liquid mix: 24-48 hours resting is enough.
Apply the charged Biochar into your soil.
With compost: Mix in at 10% of soil volume.
With liquid fertilizer: Add a small scoop and gently mix into the base of plants/flowers.
